a lightweight and compact way to bring our flag along on our travels

DIY Campground Flag Pole – 5 Easy Steps

DIY Scale:  Easy

At campgrounds all around the country, you’ll see the patriotic colors of red, white and blue proudly flying in the campsite yards.  We were looking for a lightweight and compact way to bring our flag along on our travels, so we were excited to make one of these DIY flag poles.

The PVC and fittings make this a lightweight and compact version, which is a necessity when traveling in an RV or camper.  It is not necessary to glue the PVC and fitting together, so the assembly, disassembly and storage are ideal.

Print out these instructions and save them in your Camping Journal to make before your next camping adventure!

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.  Send us a picture of the one you make!  We’d love to see it!  You’re welcome to post any questions or feedback in the comments below.

Optional upgrade:

Ernie welded a 1 1/4″ flat metal washer onto the rebar near ground level.  The PVC sits on top of the washer, allowing the flag pole to swivel better in the wind.  This is an optional step and not required for the flag pole to properly function.
